ROLES AND EXPERIENCE

What have I been up to?

HEIGHTENED THE CRAFT OF INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN FOR THE BENEFIT OF BUSINESS

Designing for a local classroom is one thing. But what could I learn by designing for a 1400-person enterprise spanning all 50 states?

Quite a bit, actually. As an Instructional Designer for New Belgium, I developed and maintained 40+ training modules in Articulate Rise, Articulate Storyline, and Camtasia. In short order, I developed business-quality assets for internal coworkers, pushing the look and feel of our training catalog to new heights. It wasn't just eLearning, either - I designed, developed, and deployed a bevy of on-brand live training offerings spanning New Hire Orientation, Harassment Prevention, Workplace Communication, and Career Development. In fact, I was recognized with the New Belgium Golden Globe award for my accountability and care in delivering these trainings to coworkers.

Great content is one thing, but could I deliver it at scale? The answer - an emphatic "absolutely." I quickly became a Learning Management System superuser, architecting the scalable delivery of audience-appropriate compliance training to all coworkers in Cornerstone. And when the time came to transition the business from Cornerstone to Workday, I was a key player in the success of our 6-month transition (all without a single training delay).

With me, you can expect smarts, tenacity, and levity to accompany design, development, and delivery.

LEARNED THE ART OF INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN AS AN EXCEPTIONAL TEACHER

As a high school teacher, I distilled difficult-to-learn content into understandable messages for hundreds of learners. I led standout English Language Arts and Mathematics instruction over 3 years, taking diverse teams of hundreds to positive learning outcomes. My instruction captured attention and kept it for multiple hours. Over my tenure, I handcrafted thousands of high-quality learning resources with respect to high standards and daily deadlines. My love for the ADDIE model of instructional design meant these resources improved year over year.

Teachers live at the intersection of productivity and passion - it's where I still find myself today.
